We have manuscripts of Winnie-the-Pooh, Newton's first edition copy of Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica, and Newton's walking stick on display in our library!
  • 3
It's academically intense and wealthy. That's about it for the positives.
  • 3
Rent is really cheap and yet the rooms are really lovely! There are also loads of people so you're sure to find good friends in your year. And our May Ball is THE best - be prepared to have all your friends beg you to give them your guest ticket!
  • 2
May Ball is the best event in Cambridge

  • 30
Room ballot is a mess, it's not diverse at all (full of male mathematicians), very academically pressured, loads of tourists, food is average, generally has a reputation as quite an unfriendly college
  • 25
The room ballot system - there's no group balloting, and if you get a first you get boosted in the ballot. Both of those combined make it difficult to arrange to live near friends, and getting all your friends in one staircase is even harder.
  • 21
The ents here is pretty bad. There is no room in college to host bops like at other colleges so you don't get lots of events like they host at places like St John's or Robinson.
  • 21
The College is really unfriendly. Nobody talks to one another and I found a lot of people to be stuck up.
  • 20
Due to Coronavirus, they kicked us all out with a weekend’s notice. Absolutely horrible treatment of students.
  • 18
There is definitely a Trinity type which I didn't realise until I arrived. Everyone is ultra studious and looks out for themselves before they care about anyone else. If you want a super communal College where people come and hang out with you every day, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Abolish the scholar's ballot, introduce group balloting, and bring back BYOB at formals
  • 20
Improve the sociability of people, improve the entertainment offering, be less stuck up. Allow my other friends in to actually visit (I swear we are always closed or locked down).

Improve quality of accommodation. Better gyps with hobs in New Court

Not all rooms are en-suite compared to other colleges. Rooms can really vary in quality from the recently renovated new court rooms to rooms in Whewell's Court where you have to go down 3 flights of stairs to a horrid basement bathroom.
  • 7
Some rooms are very far from college facilities and the hall and library
  • 1
Large, warm, and really nice. No complaints at all

There have been some really suspect meals that I have had here. Never imagined I would spend almost £6 on sausage and mash! The quality of the food is pretty dire on average compared to the price.

An incredible experience, can’t be described by words!

Always absolutely magical - fireworks display is without doubt the highlight of May Week, and generally a classier affair than any other ball (John's included, fight me)
  • 1
    Overhyped and overpriced

    Amazing ball

Headliners are generally overhyped... Charli XCX was hilariously bad. Spend the cash on good, less well-known acts, if you can't guarantee that the headliner will be good
  • 15
The ability to allow my actual friends from outside of our stuck up little college to get a ticket so I can actually have fun at the ball and not be alone all night.
  • 14
An actual live band headlining. Sigma was boring, Charli XCX sucked (worst live performance I've ever seen) and this year the Killers tribute act was more fun than the headliner no-one had heard of.

Pretty expensive for the quality, which is average. Not BYOB
  • 27
Far less formals than other colleges which is disappointing. The food is pretty average and not very good value for money. If you want to drink you have to pay extra for wine and it isn't very good wine!

Undergraduate formals are just about worth the money. However BA dinners and particularly the invite-only (however frequent enough that you will go to several) feasts are amazing!
